Cowon iAudio E3 - 16 GB (White) Review

Here comes the latest review written for this product!

Fortunately, no one ever stumbles upon here so no "2014 called, they want their review back" comments.

Anyway, two weeks ago, my Sony Walkman from A series gave up.
Now, this is the product which never let me down, it fell down 100 times, the screen was shattered but the soul was intact.
Although we stopped seeing each-other when I got my iPod Touch, my walkman embraced me with it comparatively limited features as soon as I lost my iPod.
After 5 years of misuse and negligence, it couldn't bear any more and the battery finally gave up.
So I starting looking for a good and cheap option. I had already used Mp3 players from Phillips, Sony and Apple. And I was feeling brave that day, so I took a risk and ordered Cowon iAudio 16 GB.
This product has come out for some time now.
I couldn't find any 16GB devices, just one left on Amazon, or else I would have never opt for anything but black. It also come in 8 GB at cheaper price but I was looking for bigger space.

Apart from the colour, the player overall is quite satisfying.

It came in plastic box, along with earphones and a USB connector.

The player has a unique and slick design. Although the screen is quite small, its not a problem. The problem is the touch-pad, if you have big hands, its going to be a trouble since the options are placed very close to each other.

The interface is pretty simple, and you can get hold of it pretty easily than one expects.
It has very limited features; Music, Fitness, Recording and Settings. They could have at least added radio feature.
I haven't really used Fitness and Recording option as the only reason I bought this was for music and huge memory space in just 7K which is quite rare.

The audio port on the player is also for the USB connector for the data transfer and charging.

As I have used Sony players before and I mostly listen to Metal, I found the bass not to be what I wanted.
Especially with the earphones which are a big disappointment. They could have done a better job there.

So I took out my old Sony headphones (MDR-XB30EX) which I got it around 6 months back from Amazon, these are life saving headphones.
When I attach these to the Cowon E3, they really made a huge difference. I couldn't get the original quality of music which I had with Sony Walkman but it would be foolish of me if I had expected so.

I'm starting to like the product but only cause of the Extra Bass Sony Headphones.

Ratings;
Design - 3/5
Interface - 4/5
Bass and earphones  - 2/5
Overall - 3/5

Do I recommend?
No. If you have 7K and 8 GB is enough, I'd suggest you to wait and save 2K more and go for Sony.
